Frankfurt Light + Building 2014
11.06.2014 / Lighting industry events
The increasing use of colour in domestic and commercial lighting was among emerging trends showcased at the biennial Frankfurt Light + Building trade fair held in March.
Light + Building is the world’s biggest trade fair for lighting and building services technology. It presents solutions that cut the energy consumption of a building while increasing the level of comfort and design appeal.
At this year’s fair, lighting trends focused on a high colour-rendering index (CRI). Copper and timber finishes were also popular, along with geometric, modular designs to achieve dynamic light installations.
Smart, wireless control systems are set to become multi-billion dollar industries over coming decades. Organic light emitting diodes (OLED) are also gaining significant traction as they’re incredibly thin and require very little power. Mounting profile for LED Strip lighting has transitioned from a luxury to an expectation for domestic and commercial projects, combined with the customisation of colour in applications such as the food industry – for example, pink light is proving a popular choice for displaying meat in retail grocery outlets. Our Nuovo is an LED track light which does this exceptionally well.
